Fundraiser Poster

UPDATE:

All Credit Card ticket sales are now officially closed!

If you would still like to purchase hard copy tickets, TSRA President Rob Bagazzoli will have the very last 18 remaining hard copy tickets on hand, and will be at Eglinton Flats – North side,  tomorrow (Saturday, September 12) from 12:30 – 5:30.

If you would like to make a donation to the cause, further instructions on how you can do this will be provided after Sunday’s event.

The TSRA Executive Committee would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets, and in doing so also helped support this life saving cause.  It gives us great pleasure to announce that we have exceeded our initial goal of 200 tickets sold and that would not have been made possible without the support of our members and the referee community at large.  If you did not get a chance to participate this year, we hope to continue this event on an annual basis and look forward to your participation next year.

On behalf of the TSRA Executive Committee…THANK YOU!

See you all on Sunday…ALL FOR ONE!!!

CSA appoints Isaac Raymond new Manager, Referee Department

courtesy of the CSA

Canada Soccer is pleased to announce the appointment of Isaac Raymond, FIFA Futuro III referee technical and fitness instructor, and national assessor, as new Manager of Canada’s Referee Department, effective immediately.

In this role, Raymond will have the responsibility of working with the Provincial and Territorial Associations to manage the implementation of a development plan for Canadian officials that will focus on delivering excellence at all levels of the game. He will be instrumental in devising and delivering a clear pathway for officials’ development that compliments and is aligned with the Canada Soccer Player Pathway.

“Anyone who has met Isaac is aware of his dedication to the training and mentoring of officials from grassroots to National/International levels,” said Tony Fonseca, Technical Director, Canada Soccer. “We are in capable hands as our Referee Department continues the task, in partnership with our Provincial and Territorial Member Associations, of elevating our officials across the country to their peak potential.”

Before joining Canada Soccer, in addition to being a FIFA Futuro III referee technical and fitness instructor and national assessor, Raymond has served as District Referee Coordinator for the Toronto Soccer Association and was in charge of the Ontario Soccer Association’s Advanced Referee Training Program. He has also been a National List Official between 2005 and 2008 and represented Canada in various international, NASL, University Championships and Canadian National Club Championships throughout his career.

Raymond will be based out of Canada Soccer’s Toronto office.

The TSRA would like to thank Isaac for all his efforts and hard work while in his post as Toronto DRC, and wish him luck in his now position.

LAW 11 Interpretation Explained

PRO training camp: Offside discussions

Courtesy of PROreferees.com

Several offside decisions were discussed at a recent training camp and PRO has received clarification from FIFA.

We discussed a number of offside decisions at our recent preseason camp with active practitioners, experienced ARs Paul Scott and Craig Lowry, conducting the session.

Lively debate in discussion groups was followed by clear guidance on seven of the nine controversial clips that were discussed.

The session was of vital importance to the manner in which offside is going to be interpreted by PRO during the forthcoming season.

It is also of paramount importance that PRO is consistent in its approach, alongside FIFA, CONCACAF and US Soccer, who all had representatives in attendance, namely Craig himself and Alfred Kleinaitis, one of PRO’s senior assessors, as well as Sonia Denoncourt, CONCACAF Director of Refereeing, and Hector Vergara who is a FIFA Instructor and a member of the FIFA Referees’ Committee.
